Yaara is a shared-expense app for couples. Use it to record costs you agree to share, divide bills equally or differently, and keep track of repayments. Your agreement decides the split; Yaara keeps the record.

A few useful answers ↗

THE LITTLE THINGS ADD UP

Same day.
Different “I got this.”

A shared expense is a cost you both agree to contribute to. The difficult part is remembering the details when you pay for groceries, your partner pays for dinner and the plans keep moving.

Relationship & Financial Studies: Research by financial behaviorists and the American Psychological Association indicates money disagreements are the top predictor of relationship friction, with over 70% of couples experiencing tension over shared bills. Yaara provides couples with a transparent shared ledger and customizable split ratios, eliminating ambiguity.

01 / ON THE WAY HOME

“I picked up
the groceries.”

The shopping bag has groceries for both of you and a few personal items. Agree which costs are shared, then record the shared amount, payer and shares in Yaara. Keep the receipt to explain what the expense includes.

02 / JUST ONE MORE CHAI

“Dinner’s on me.
The ride was on you.”

Paying for the next thing doesn’t always balance the last thing. Add dinner and the ride as separate expenses with their agreed shares. Recording both gives you the detail to check before deciding what to pay back.

03 / BACK AT YOUR PLACE

“Was that for us,
or just for me?”

A household purchase may be shared; something bought for one person may not be. Talk about the boundary before adding the cost. Keep personal spending outside shared bills, and record money lent for a personal purchase as a separate loan.

YOUR AGREEMENT COMES FIRST

Together doesn’t have
to mean half each.

You may agree to halve one bill and use different shares for another. Discuss the purchase and your circumstances together. Yaara supports equal, exact, percentage and item-based shares, so the record can match your agreement.

ONE SHARED COST / PKR 5,000

An agreed 60 / 40.

Your share is PKR 3,000. Their share is PKR 2,000. If you paid the whole bill, PKR 2,000 is due back to you before repayments.

Illustrative example, not a recommended split. If your circumstances change, discuss the agreement for future expenses together.

EqualThe same share for each person.

Exact or percentageSpecific amounts or an agreed ratio.

Item-basedShares that follow the items you agreed to cover.

A couple unpacking books and arranging a small apartment together.
A place. A plan. A few things to figure out together.

AND THEN THE PLANS GET BIGGER

A weekend away.
A place of your own.
Your next chapter.

One of you books the stay. The other covers transport and meals. Or you’re moving together and paying for kitchen supplies, a table and the first grocery shop. Different payers and dates make a plan harder to piece together later.

Use a separate Yaara group for a holiday or move, and another for ongoing shared costs if that suits you. Record each purchase with its payer and agreed shares. A group keeps the costs of that plan together, even when you pay for different things.

THE FOLLOW-THROUGH MATTERS TOO

“Sent you some back.”
Keep that clear, too.

A transfer can get lost between the messages about dinner and tomorrow’s plans. Pay each other through your usual method, then record what was returned in Yaara. Recording a partial repayment keeps the original amount and what remains understandable.

Due backPKR 2,000

ReturnedPKR 800

Still duePKR 1,200

Illustrative repayment. Yaara records the money; it doesn’t transfer it.

Lending your partner money for something personal? Keep that as a personal loan, separate from shared bills, and record repayments against it.

A LITTLE ROOM FOR THE CONVERSATION

Agree it. Record it.
Get back to your day.

01

Decide what’s shared.

Start with the costs you both want to share: groceries, dates, household supplies or a particular plan. Agree what stays personal and how you’ll divide each type of expense.

02

Keep the context.

Record each purchase with its amount, payer and agreed shares while the details are fresh. Keep a receipt when it explains a mixed bill or a purchase you may need to revisit.

03

Choose a moment to check in.

Choose a time that suits you to review the records together. Check which costs and repayments have been added, talk through anything unclear, then agree what still needs paying back.

A little more
understanding.

Your questions,
cleared up.

What shared costs can couples record in Yaara?

Record purchases you have both agreed to share, such as groceries, date nights, transport, household supplies or holiday costs. Each expense keeps its payer and agreed shares. Personal purchases can stay outside shared costs; money lent for something personal can be recorded as a separate loan.

How can we split groceries that include personal items?

Look at the receipt together and agree which items are shared and which are personal. Record the agreed shared cost and use equal, exact or item-based shares as appropriate. Keep the receipt with the expense so the amount is easier to understand later.

Can we use different shares for different bills?

Yes. Your agreement can vary by expense. You might split one purchase equally and record exact amounts or percentages for another. Yaara records the shares you agree; it does not calculate an income-based recommendation or decide what is fair for you.

What if we take turns paying for different things?

Record each shared purchase with the person who paid and both agreed shares. Taking turns does not necessarily mean equal amounts were covered. Keeping the expenses and any repayments recorded gives you the information to review what remains.

How can couples track shared expenses?

Agree which costs you share and how to divide each one. In Yaara, record the amount, who paid, each person’s agreed share and any repayments. This keeps the details together across purchases paid by either person.

Do we have to split every bill equally?

No. Yaara supports equal, exact, percentage and item-based shares. Decide together what fits the expense, then record those shares. The app records your agreement; it does not decide what is fair for your relationship.

Can we keep personal spending separate?

Yes. Only add purchases you have agreed to share as shared expenses. If you lend your partner money for something personal, record that separately as a personal loan.

Can we make a group for a holiday or moving home?

Yes. Use a Yaara group for a particular plan or your ongoing shared costs. Record each purchase with its payer, participants and agreed shares. Different expenses can have different shares.

What if one of us only pays part of the amount back?

Record a partial repayment. For example, if PKR 2,000 is due and PKR 800 is returned, PKR 1,200 remains. The payment happens outside Yaara; record it in the app afterwards.

Does Yaara need a joint bank account?

Yaara keeps records of shared costs, money lent and repayments. Pay each other using your usual payment method. Yaara does not move money between accounts.

Do both people need connected accounts?

You can keep personal records for a contact without a connected account. For your partner to access shared records, they need the appropriate connection or group access.

Where can we download Yaara?
